CF Mom and Daughter Author Children's Book

Mayra and Serena -- Co-Authors of a 5 book series about a young girl living with cystic fibrosis.

Mayra J. Porrata and her daughter Serena Silvestro have written a children’s book that will be part of a 5 book series about a 7-year old girl with cystic fibrosis. The Northern Ohio Chapter of the CF Foundation will receive 50% of net sales.
The first published book in this series is titled “Lilly’s Life”. The book is an excellent educational tool for children (CF and non-CF) and adults alike. Through the series, the authors aim to remind children and families that while living with CF is difficult, it is important to focus on the “positive possibilities” of life!
The Silvestro family is no stranger to the CF Foundation. They have participated in the Chapter’s Great Strides Walk every year since Serena’s diagnosis. While the family is deeply grateful for the tremendous clinical advances in the treatment of CF symptoms, they know that there is still much work to be done. “We have to find a cure” says Serena, “and it takes all of us doing what we can to make it happen!” Mayra & Serena hope these books will help inspire and emotionally sustain CF families until a cure is found!
