| “Hello, my name is Evan Yost. I'm 29 years old and I live in beautiful Peoria, Arizona. In January 2010, I am participating in the full marathon hosted by the P.F.Chang’s Rock and Roll Marathon. This will be my second year participating in the event. Last year, I finished the 26.2-mile race in just under 4 hours and 30 minutes This year, I have decided not only to compete with my time from last year but to also dedicate my energy and strength to raise funds for a cause that is near and dear to my heart. This year, I am running for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and I will be collecting as many donations as I can to help this cause. At a young age, I witnessed the loss, first hand, as one of my cousins passed away from the disease, cystic fibrosis. This was my second cousin to pass away from cystic fibrosis in my family and it was heartbreaking. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects the lungs and pancreas. Today, there is no cure. Today, I’m older and could only imagine how much dedication, love, and parenting my Aunt and Uncle provided to my two cousins. The steps we make today echo into the future and that is why, right now, I want to dedicate my time towards the search for a cure for this terrible disease. I love my family and I wish someday soon to have healthy children, with of course some help from God, and the right woman to put up with the goofy guy writing this letter. I only pray that in some small way, that I can help a child out there who needs someone strong to lean on, in their time of need. I want to help to provide children that have cystic fibrosis, the ability to laugh, live, and love to the maximum of their heart. Nothing great can be accomplished alone but through a loving community and proper support, miracles and dreams happen. No greater time than now, when money is tight and life is hard for all of us, do we need to give more and try harder.- God Bless and Thank you truly, Evan Yost |
