Researchers at Agile Sciences are excited about the promise of having a positive impact on patients with cystic fibrosis. Initial experiments with the company's biofilm dispersing compound indicate effectiveness against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the most common pathogen associated with CF respiratory infection. Recently received funding from the CFF is providing the opportunity for Agile Sciences investigators to complete the initial proof of concept testing with Pseudomonas isolates from actual CF patients. Agile employees; efforts extend beyond the company's laboratory.

Agile Scientists Cathy Reed and Laura Guogas hope to develop a new therapeutic for treating pulmonary bacterial infections in CF patients. |
Recently, Agile Sciences; Cathy Reed wrote an email to all of her Agile colleagues: "After attending the Cystic Fibrosis Carolinas Chapter annual meeting back in December, I was inspired to become more active in the cystic fibrosis community. I decided to get the Agile Sciences team together for Great Strides." Within hours of receiving Cathy's email, every employee at Agile had signed up to support the effort. In their first week of fundraising, the Agile Team raised over $1,500.
"We are quite grateful for the support of the CFF and local experts in the field," commented Agile co-founder, Dr. Christian Melander. "Our intent is to work diligently with those that best understand this terrible disease to quickly evaluate whether our technology can have an important role in helping patients." |
