Welcome!

Volunteers are the key to our success, and we encourage you to get involved! Whether you join a committee and help get sponsors for an event, recruit companies to put together walk teams or volunteer time in our office, you help us achieve our mission—curing and controlling cystic fibrosis. Take a moment to see what a difference you can make by supporting events throughout the year. Together, we can continue adding tomorrows every day to the lives of people with CF.

The Northern Illinois Chapter of the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) and the Northern Illinois Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board (NISAB) announced that Arnie Witzke, of the North Maine Fire Protection District, was selected to be the recipient of the  NFSA’s Wayne Leucht Humanitarian Fire Prevention Award for 2008.

In memory of fallen Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Leucht, fire prevention bureau manager from the Northbrook Fire Department, the award was created to recognize members of the fire service in the Northern Illinois Region who personify the spirit and dedication of the fire service.  The recipients are also recognized for their efforts to increase the use and knowledge of the life-and property-saving benefits of fire sprinklers in their communities.

Arnie is a remarkable person, he has dedicated his life for the well-being of others for many years.  What makes him so remarkable is that Arnie is 52 years old and is living  with Cystic Fibrosis.  Arnie was part of the Chosen Few as a young adult.  He met up with other children with Cystic Fibrosis at various camps.  He came on board with us as a new team leader for our Orland Park walk, after placing a call to our foundation on how he could get more involved.  We are thankful for individuals like Arnie…  Thank you for all you do…
