Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Greater Illinois Chapter is pleased to announce our participation in the 2014 Chicago Auto Show’s First Look for Charity. The black tie gala will be held at McCormick Place on Friday, February 7, 2014.

Opening ceremonies. Representatives from around the world. Closing ceremonies. Sochi, Russia? No, McCormick Place, for First Look for Charity, the benevolent event of the Chicago Auto Show. Treat yourself to a medal-winning night at North America’s largest auto show! But please leave the skates at home, in order to stroll the show floor amid opulence, with first-rate hors d’oeuvres and beverages, and sing along with or dance to live music.

The event’s purpose is easier to understand than curling: It’s to support 18 vital Chicago area charities which will benefit from the more than $2 million expected to be raised. Choose the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as your charity of choice and $198 of each $250 ticket is tax-deductible as a charitable donation!

Edible delights representing a number of countries will compete for your attention amid a show floor boasting about 1,000 production and concept vehicles and technologies. And all attendees are eligible to win in the synchronized car-giveaway event, with an award stand showcasing a 2014 Toyota Highlander and a 2014 Toyota Corolla.

When the celebration comes to its grand finale, guests will be treated to a global assortment of desserts, sundries, and coffee. The event’s return to Friday promises to make attending more exciting than a triple lutz, so order your tickets now!

And top off your evening with a stay at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, which adjoins the convention center. First Look for Charity has secured a limited number of rooms starting at $115. Mention the event when making reservations by Jan. 17 at
(888) 421-1442.

First Look for Charity and the Chicago Auto Show are presented by the new car dealers of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, who form the Chicago Automobile Trade Association.

B. CEPACIA AND INFECTION CONTROL POLICY
Because of risks to people with cystic fibrosis (CF), only one person with CF may be invited. Also, individuals who have ever had a confirmed positive sputum culture for Burkholderia cepacia (B. cepacia) complex shall not attend any Foundation events/meetings. These requirements are because CF germs can be passed between individuals who have CF. Some germs in a person with CF can cause serious respiratory illness and, in some patients, may lead to death. CF germs are not a risk for otherwise healthy individuals.

Despite this policy, individuals with CF might choose to attend events or meetings without informing the CF Foundation or without the Foundation's knowledge. If so, they do so at their own risk. The Foundation accepts no responsibility for any risk to health involved in attendance, or in any social contact between persons with CF. For more information, please visit
 www.cff.org.

Important note on attendance for people with CF and their families:
The health and well-being of people with cystic fibrosis is our top priority. Medical evidence shows that certain bacteria can be passed between individuals who have CF and can lead to worse symptoms and speed decline in lung function. To limit the serious risk of cross-infection between people with CF, only one person with CF may be invited to attend the indoor portion of each CF Foundation-sponsored event.  For the outdoor portion of the event, people with CF should maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from each other.

Please note: People with CF and their families should be aware that individuals with CF might choose to attend Foundation events or meetings without notifying event organizers. We strongly discourage this; however, we cannot guarantee that only one person with CF will be present at any indoor Foundation event. For more information, please call your local chapter.
