climb. 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded.
- Males and females will each be divided into these age groups: 19 and under; 20-39; 40-59 and 60 and older
- The 4 person teams - top 3 finishers
- Best overall time for run/climb
What’s it all about? Participants run/walk one mile and then climb 952 steps, about 58 stories, to the top of the Tower of the Americas. There are two staircases, one for ‘competitors’ and one for ‘casual’ climbers. This is the only time of the year Landry’s allows these stairs open to the public.
What’s new this year? Competitors will be clocked with ‘chip’ timing. Also, we are having 4 person teams – scores will be added together for results. We expect to see lots of competition between companies, departments, clubs and schools – send your finest and go for the gold! Individuals will compete as always and metals given in categories based on age and gender. Also, an award will be given to the best time for Run/Climb overall. In addition, we are adding special 'Top 3' awards this year for the fire fighter who has the best time doing the climb only - in full gear! Contact Lt. Tony Rodriguez for more info, or if you are outside San Antonio, contact the CFF Office. This is open to any fire fighter with official gear.
To Register, click on Individual or 4 person team and then Register. You’ll pay the fee up front and can continue to fundraise later. We’ll make it easy to send letters and receive donations.
Why participate? Besides the challenge and fun, about 90% of money raised will go for cystic fibrosis research and patient care. There are 35,000 children and adults currently with cf and 10 million people who are symptom less carriers of the defective gene. Major strides have been made in 2008 and there is hope that a cure can be found in the next two decades. You can be a part of history by contributing to the cause and ‘adding tomorrows every day’ for those with cf.
Parkingin the Tower lot is free to participants (provided wrist bands show proof); ITC parking is free ONLY if out by 11 a.m.; the 2 Federal lots across Durango are free all day.
WE STILL NEED SPONSORS, PARTICIPANTS AND GIVEAWAYS!
