About the Event:

Join the San Antonio chapter for the 3rd Annual Cycle For Life ride! Our ride will Start/Finish at Palo Alto College on Saturday, November 23, 2013. Our routes will not only challenge you physically, but they will take you through some of the most beautiful areas south of San Antonio. Cycle at your own pace…this is not a race!

Your registration includes training rides (to be scheduled), a commemorative long sleeved t-shirt, a delicious lunch upon completion of the ride, tasty beverages and a truly memorable experience!

You can expect well-marked and closely monitored routes. The Aptalis CF Cycle For Life ® ride provides superior SAG (Support and Gear), which are roaming vehicles along the route that can help you with any bike issues you may have, supply you with food and/or water, or take you to the closest Rest Stop or Finish Line. Our Rest Stops will be fuly stocked with water, Gatorade, snacks, fruit and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches for nourishment. We will also have on-site professional bike mechanics, experienced medical and traffic control teams and smiling volunteers to encourage you all the way to the Finnish Line.

Participants under the age of 18 are not permitted to ride in the Aptalis CF Cycle For Life ® event. Bike helmets are required to ride.

We require cyclists to raise a minimum of $150 to participate in the Cycle For Life® ride. With the help of volunteers like you, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is able to fund vital research and therapies for those affected by cystic fibrosis.

Minimum Pledge Requirement Policy: The minimum pledge requirement is due on or before event day. If you have met your minimum by the day of the event, we encourage you to keep fundraising. Reach for the stars and earn great prizes. Even though the minimum amount is due by the day of the event, you have one month after the event to earn a jersey or other cycle rewards. The average amount a participant raises is $650. Registration fees are non refundable and do not count towards your fundraising minimum. Fundraising is 100% tax deductable. Thank you for adding tomorrows for people with cystic fibrosis.

TIP - When registering you will be asked to state your fundraising goal (which you can change later). You may select any of the amounts from the pull down menu that are ABOVE the ride's minimum fundraising goal. If the minimum fundraising goal is not an option in the pull down menu, you will need to select the shaded block that is immediately above the minimum amount - and then type in any other amount above the minimum.

Because of risks to people with cystic fibrosis, individuals with a confirmed positive sputum culture for Burkholderia cepacia complex shall not attend this event. This is because B. cepacia can be passed between individuals who have CF through close proximity. B. cepacia infection in a person with CF can cause serious respiratory illness and, in some patients, may lead to death.

Despite this policy, there might still be some individuals with B. cepacia in attendance. B. cepacia is not a risk for otherwise healthy individuals. Learn more about alternative ways in which a person with B. cepacia can participate, or call the CF Foundation at (800) FIGHT-CF. Consult your CF care center physician with medical questions.
