About the Event:

Join the Los Angeles Chapter for our second annual Cycle for Life bike tour! Our ride will happen on Sunday, October 28, 2012. This route will not only challenge you physically, but it will take you through some of the most beautiful areas of Southern California. You have a choice of two mileage options: a 70 mile route or a 36 mile route. Cycle at your own pace...this is not a race!
Your registration includes training rides, a commemorative long sleeved t-shirt, breakfast and lunch the day of the race along with a truly memorable experience!

Participants under the age of 18 are not permitted to participate in the Aptalis CF Cycle For Life®

Whether you choose the 36 or the 70 mile route, you will enjoy well-marked and monitored routes. The Aptalis CF Cycle For Life® event provides superior SAG (Support and Gear), which are roaming vehicles on the route that can help you with any bike issues, supply you with food and/or water, or take you to the next rest stop or finish line. The routes have fully stocked rest stops, professional bike mechanics, experienced medical and traffic control teams, smiling volunteers, and wonderful food and drinks! The route itself will be well-marked with mile markers every ¼ of a mile to help keep cyclists safe.

How to Get Your Wheels In Motion:

Registration Dates and Fees are as follows:
January 1 through August 30: $25
August 31 through September 30: $35
October 1 through October 28: $50

Click on the “Register” button near the upper right of this page to create your own webpage to solicit donations and keep track of your fundraising progress.
For additional questions or concerns, please call event director Christopher Mendoza at 323-939-0758 or send him an email at cmendoza@cff.org.

Registration fees are not tax deductible and do not count towards the fund-raising minimum and are non-refundable and non-transferable. Your Minimum Pledge Requirement is tax deductible and must be turned in on or before event date.

We require cyclists to raise a minimum of $150 to participate in the Cycle For Life® tour. With the help of volunteers like you, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is able to fund vital research and therapies for those affected by cystic fibrosis.
If your minimum pledge requirement has not been met by October 28, 2012, you will have the option of providing either a credit card or cash on event day. You will have one month after the event to submit the remaining balance before your credit card is charged.

TIP - When registering you will be asked to state your fundraising goal (which you can change later). You may select any of the amounts from the pull down menu that are ABOVE the ride's minimum fundraising goal. If the minimum fundraising goal is not an option in the pull down menu, you will need to select the shaded block that is immediately above the minimum amount - and then type in any other amount above the minimum.

Because of risks to people with cystic fibrosis, individuals with a confirmed positive sputum culture for Burkholderia cepacia complex shall not attend this event. This is because B. cepacia can be passed between individuals who have CF through close proximity. B. cepacia infection in a person with CF can cause serious respiratory illness and, in some patients, may lead to death.

Despite this policy, there might still be some individuals with B. cepacia in attendance. B. cepacia is not a risk for otherwise healthy individuals. Learn more about alternative ways in which a person with B. cepacia can participate, or call the CF Foundation at (800) FIGHT-CF. Consult your CF care center physician with medical questions.

Important note on attendance for people with CF and their families:
The health and well-being of people with cystic fibrosis is our top priority. Medical evidence shows that certain bacteria can be passed between individuals who have CF and can lead to worse symptoms and speed decline in lung function. To limit the serious risk of cross-infection between people with CF, only one person with CF may be invited to attend the indoor portion of each CF Foundation-sponsored event.  For the outdoor portion of the event, people with CF should maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from each other.

Please note: People with CF and their families should be aware that individuals with CF might choose to attend Foundation events or meetings without notifying event organizers. We strongly discourage this; however, we cannot guarantee that only one person with CF will be present at any indoor Foundation event. For more information, please call your local chapter.
