2009-2010 Advisory Board

Jennifer Kelley and Jim Harp, volunteers for the Louisiana Chapter, found the National Volunteer Leadership Conference to be an inspirational catalyst for moving their volunteer development efforts forward. After the conference they worked with Executive Director, Ashley Mills, to recruit an Advisory Board that has a very specific goal—identify and recruit community leaders to serve in leadership roles on event committees. In preparation for the first meeting, each volunteer was asked to come with a list of three to five names of people they knew or had a connection wsith who would be an asset to one of the chapter’s events. At the meeting, nine new volunteers, the CF Care Center Director and four seasoned volunteers generated a list of more than 40 community leaders, young professionals and key local businesses and industries that they plan to involve in the chapter. For the first time in several years, the chapter has built a body of leadership that will take it to the next level.
