Cycle for Life

About the Event:

Join us on Sunday, September 23, 2012 for a one-day ride where hundreds of men and women will come together to particiapte in an event to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.  Participants will have a choice between a half metric ride (32 miles) or a metric century option (62 miles).  Cycle at your own pace!

Our bike ride is a fully supported journey with stocked rest stops every 10-12 miles, support and gear (SAG) vehicles, on-site medical services and much more.  This unique ride will allow you to expereince NYC like never before. The routes are designed to allow you to expereince Brooklyn and other parts of NYC in a way that you could not on foot or in a vehicle.  This unique event empowers participants to take action and demonstrate their fight in finding a cure in a tangible and powerful way.

Participants under the age of 18 are not permitted to participate in the Aptalis CF Cycle For Life®.  Bike helmets are required to ride.

How to Get Your Wheels In Motion:

It's easy to register for the second annual CF CYCLE FOR LIFE, just click on the registration button on the right panel of this page.  Once you sign up, how do you raise $250 and much more?  Don't worry!  Fundraising for this event is easily done with all the resources you have available and with the help of our staff!  There are also many ways to reach out to your potential donors - decide which one works best for you.  Our downloadable Fundraising Guide is filled with information and tools to help you get started and to help you reach your goals.

Registration and Fundraising Information

All cyclists must raise a minimum amount of $250 to participate, in addition to the registration fee.  Minimum fundraising is due 30 days after the ride on October 23, 2012.  Registration fees do not count towards the fund-raising minimum and are non-refundable.  Create a team of family, friends and colleagues for added benefits!

Registration Fees:
$25 January - May 31st
$35 June 1st - Aug 31st
$50 Sept 1st - Event Day

$250 Minimum fundraising due on or before October 23, 2012.

Registration fees are not tax deductible and do not count towards the fund-raising minimum and are non-refundable and non-transferable. Your Minimum Pledge Requirement is tax deductible and must be turned in on or before event date.

If your minimum pledge requirement has not been met, you will have the option of providing a credit card or cash on event day. You will have one month after the event to submit the remaining balance before your credit card is charged.

TIP - When registering you will be asked to state your fundraising goal (which you can change later). You may select any of the amounts from the pull down menu that are ABOVE the ride's minimum fundraising goal. If the minimum fundraising goal is not an option in the pull down menu, you will need to select the shaded block that is immediately above the minimum amount - and then type in any other amount above the minimum.

Because of risks to people with cystic fibrosis, individuals with a confirmed positive sputum culture for Burkholderia cepacia complex shall not attend this event. This is because B. cepacia can be passed between individuals who have CF through close proximity. B. cepacia infection in a person with CF can cause serious respiratory illness and, in some patients, may lead to death.

Despite this policy, there might still be some individuals with B. cepacia in attendance. B. cepacia is not a risk for otherwise healthy individuals. Learn more about alternative ways in which a person with B. cepacia can participate, or call the CF Foundation at (800) FIGHT-CF. Consult your CF care center physician with medical questions.
