25th Annual CF Climb Event

If you are interested in registering for our CF Stair Climb please register at "Day of Registration" on Thursday, March 7th, 2013 at the Empire State Plaza Concourse level. Registration will be open between 4pm and 6pm. Please be sure to register at least 30 minutes prior to your climb.

About the Event:


Are you looking for the tallest stair climb in Albany? You found it!!

Please join the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Northeastern NY for our 25th Stair Climb Event. Participants will climb the TALLEST building in Albany (42 floors, 809 steps) to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis! With a Firefighter’s Challenge, a U Can Do It Climb of 13 floors, a Relay Race with each participant climbing ¼ of the distance there is definitely a challenge for everyone!

Registration and Check-In: 4:30-6:00pm
Firefighter’s Challenge: 6:00pm
Individual Untimed U Can Do It Climb: 6:30pm
Relay Race: 7:00pm
Individual Timed Climb: 7:30pm

Date: 11/16/2012 to 1/31/2013: $20
Date: 2/1/2013 to 2/28/2013: $30
Date: 3/1/2013 to 3/7/2013: $40
Minimum Pledge Requirement: $125

Turn in your $125 fundraising minimum due on or before March 7, 2013 to earn a long-sleeved official event T-shirt. Raise additional money for a chance to win an official event jersey and other great prizes!

The minimum pledge requirement is due on or before event day. If you have met your minimum by the day of the event, we encourage you to keep fundraising. Reach for the stars and earn great prizes. Even though the minimum amount is due by the day of the event, you have one month after the event to earn great incentives. The average amount a participant raises is $330. Registration fees are non refundable and do not count towards your fundraising minimum. Fundraising is 100% tax deductable. Registration Fees are not tax deductible. Thank you for adding tomorrows for people with cystic fibrosis.

TIP - When registering you will be asked to state your fundraising goal (which you can change later). You may select any of the amounts from the pull down menu that are ABOVE the climb’s minimum fundraising goal. If the minimum fundraising goal is not an option in the pull down menu, you will need to select the shaded block that is immediately above the minimum amount - and then type in any other amount above the minimum.

Because of risks to people with cystic fibrosis, individuals with a confirmed positive sputum culture for Burkholderia cepacia complex shall not attend this event. This is because B. cepacia can be passed between individuals who have CF through close proximity. B. cepacia infection in a person with CF can cause serious respiratory illness and, in some patients, may lead to death.

Despite this policy, there might still be some individuals with B. cepacia in attendance. B. cepacia is not a risk for otherwise healthy individuals. Learn more about alternative ways in which a person with B. cepacia can participate, or call the CF Foundation at (800) FIGHT-CF. Consult your CF care center physician with medical questions.

Important note on attendance for people with CF and their families:
The health and well-being of people with cystic fibrosis is our top priority. Medical evidence shows that certain bacteria can be passed between individuals who have CF and can lead to worse symptoms and speed decline in lung function. To limit the serious risk of cross-infection between people with CF, only one person with CF may be invited to attend the indoor portion of each CF Foundation-sponsored event.  For the outdoor portion of the event, people with CF should maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from each other.

Please note: People with CF and their families should be aware that individuals with CF might choose to attend Foundation events or meetings without notifying event organizers. We strongly discourage this; however, we cannot guarantee that only one person with CF will be present at any indoor Foundation event. For more information, please call your local chapter.
