About the Event:

Join us this September 28th for our 4th Annual CF Cycle for Life ride in the Lowcountry. Each year, more than 100 cyclists from all over South Carolina come together to ride “the road less traveled” in support of finding a cure for cystic fibrosis. This event is for all riders from beginners to advanced who are looking for a unique cycling experience.

The Experience:
Upon your arrival in Meggett, SC you will be greeted by volunteers who will serve you breakfast and bike mechanics to make sure your bike is ready to ride. Our top teams and cyclists will kick off the day as you begin your journey through the beautiful Lowcountry marshlands. As you make your way on either the short (25 – 30) or long (60 – 65) route, you may catch a glimpse of a friendly camel, a rare white fox squirrel, and other surprise spectacles. Just as you think you need a break, a fully stocked rest stop with welcoming volunteers will await you. Hopefully you will not need their help, but a support and gear vehicle (SAG) and medical team will be on-site all day long.

As you reach the finish line, a cheer squad will greet you to congratulate you on your momentous accomplishment. Don’t forget to stop for a photo and your medal before you head to the finish line party with a live band, food by Salt Works Catering Mobile Kitchen, and plenty of adult beverages.

To learn more, contact Ginny at 843-388-5968 or vlioon@cff.org.

Participants under the age of 18 are not permitted to participate in the Aptalis CF Cycle For Life®. Bike helmets are required to ride.

Minimum Pledge Requirement Policy: The minimum pledge requirement is due on or before event day. If you have met your minimum by the day of the event, we encourage you to keep fundraising. Reach for the stars and earn great prizes. Even though the minimum amount is due by the day of the event, you have one month after the event to earn a jersey or other cycle rewards. The average amount a participant raises is $650. Registration fees are non refundable and do not count towards your fundraising minimum. Fundraising is 100% tax deductable. Thank you for adding tomorrows for people with cystic fibrosis.

Cyclists are required to raise at least $165 to support CF Cycle for Life. We will help you reach this goal and beyond.

TIP - When registering you will be asked to state your fundraising goal (which you can change later). You may select any of the amounts from the pull down menu that are ABOVE the ride's minimum fundraising goal. If the minimum fundraising goal is not an option in the pull down menu, you will need to select the shaded block that is immediately above the minimum amount - and then type in any other amount above the minimum.

B.CEPACIA AND INFECTION CONTROL POLICY
Because of risks to people with cystic fibrosis (CF), individuals who have ever had a confirmed positive sputum culture for Burkholderia cepacia (B. cepacia) complex shall not attend any Foundation events. These requirements are because CF germs can be passed between individuals who have CF. B. cepacia in a person with CF can cause serious respiratory illness and, in some patients, may lead to death. CF germs are not a risk for otherwise healthy individuals. At any outdoor event, people with CF should keep at least 6 feet away from others with CF.

Despite this policy, individuals with CF might choose to attend events without informing the CF Foundation or without the Foundation’s knowledge. If so, they do so at their own risk. The Foundation accepts no responsibility for any risk to health involved in attendance, or in any social contact between persons with CF. For more information, please visit www.cff.org.

Important note on attendance for people with CF and their families:
The health and well-being of people with cystic fibrosis is our top priority. Medical evidence shows that certain bacteria can be passed between individuals who have CF and can lead to worse symptoms and speed decline in lung function. To limit the serious risk of cross-infection between people with CF, only one person with CF may be invited to attend the indoor portion of each CF Foundation-sponsored event.  For the outdoor portion of the event, people with CF should maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from each other.

Please note: People with CF and their families should be aware that individuals with CF might choose to attend Foundation events or meetings without notifying event organizers. We strongly discourage this; however, we cannot guarantee that only one person with CF will be present at any indoor Foundation event. For more information, please call your local chapter.
