About the Event:
Calling all cyclists from beginner to advanced. Come ride with the Western Pennsylvania Chapter in the Inaugural Aptalis CF Cycle for Life event! No matter your cycling ability, we have a route for you. Our ride will happen on Sunday, September 15, 2013. This cyclist designed route will not only challenge you physically, but it will take you through some of the most beautiful terraine Western PA has to offer. You have a choice of two mileage options: a 60 mile route or a 30 mile route. Cycle at your own pace...this is not a race!
This premier cycling event is a fully supported ride with stocked rest stops every 10-15 miles, support and gear (SAG) vehicles to assist with bike issues or give you a lift to the next rest stop, on-site medical services just in case, plenty of tasty food to keep you geared up, refreshing beverages and much more. Your registration also includes training rides to help you prepare, a commemorative long sleeved t-shirt to wear with pride, and a finish line party to help you celebrate your accomplishment with friends and family.
This unique event empowers participants to take action and demonstrate their fight in finding a cure for cystic fibrosis in a tangible, emotional and powerful way.
Sponsors, committee members, volunteers and, of course, riders are currently needed. For information contact Lauren DiMaria at (412) 321-4422 or email ldimaria@cff.org
Participants under the age of 18 are not permitted to participate in the Aptalis CF Cycle For Life®. Bike helmets are required to ride.

Because of risks to people with cystic fibrosis, individuals with a confirmed positive sputum culture for Burkholderia cepacia complex shall not attend this event. This is because B. cepacia can be passed between individuals who have CF through close proximity. B. cepacia infection in a person with CF can cause serious respiratory illness and, in some patients, may lead to death. Despite this policy, there might still be some individuals with B. cepacia in attendance. B. cepacia is not a risk for otherwise healthy individuals. Learn more about alternative ways in which a person with B. cepacia can participate, or call the CF Foundation at (800) FIGHT-CF. Consult your CF care center physician with medical questions.
