STUDY BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
People with CF and Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes (CFRD) have high levels of glucose in the airway compared to people without CF or CFRD or those with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. This high level of glucose in the airway could cause an inflammatory response and oxidant stress in the lung and subsequently systemic stress. This can lead to worsening glucose impairment and worsening hyperglycemia. This study will seek to find out what are the inflammatory molecules with high blood sugar and which molecule are the most sensitive to detect.
