STUDY BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Chronic infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a major cause of the lung damage seen in people with cystic fibrosis (CF). Sildenafil (Revatio®), a drug already used in other types of lung disease, may be helpful in decreasing symptoms related to lung inflammation and infection in people with CF. Study participants will receive sildenafil or placebo. Specimens of blood and sputum will be taken along with pulmonary function testing. The study will last 14 weeks.
