President and CEO,
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
This fall is an exciting time at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We continue to build our portfolio of research investments and keep the drug discovery and development pipeline well stocked with potential compounds. Currently, there are more than 25 potential therapies in the pipeline. In this issue of Commitment, you will learn about those that are entering Phase 3 clinical trials, as well as updates on promising research collaborations with Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inspire Pharmaceuticals and CombinatoRx, Inc.
We are also proud to report great news about GREAT STRIDES 2006. Still our largest and fastest growing fund-raiser, GREAT STRIDES provides critical support for the CF Foundation and its efforts to find a cure and better treatments for those with cystic fibrosis. This year’s GREAT STRIDES teams will include more volunteers, friends, families and corporate sponsors than ever before and will raise approximately $31 million. For the outstanding efforts of all the GREAT STRIDES teams and the efforts of so many who host galas, dinner dances, golf tournaments and a wonderful array of other events on behalf of the CF Foundation throughout the country, we are deeply grateful.
This issue of Commitment marks another milestone important to our organization: the first print publication to incorporate our new design theme. Always looking for innovative ways to expand our circle of supporters, we recently developed a new visual identity to help us strengthen the way the Foundation communicates its mission. The new identity, which we have already adapted on our Web site (www.cff.org) features a more dynamic overall design, bolder and brighter fonts and colors, as well as new photographs of children and adults with CF, their families, clinicians, researchers and volunteers. In addition to compelling new images of the people who are so dear to us, Commitment features new regular columns like One on One—an interview with someone special in our community, and a larger, tabloid-sized format for easier reading.
I hope you will take this opportunity to learn about the latest CF Foundation news and enjoy our new design. With your continued support, we remain dedicated to adding tomorrows every day to the lives of those with CF.
