At the Greater East Michigan Chapter’s Wine Opener, 4-year-old Abby Engel, who has CF, gives Michigan State University mascot, Sparty, a high-five for helping fight cystic fibrosis. Abby’s mother, Sherri (pictured), chairs the Tri-City’s GREAT STRIDES and serves on the Celebrity Chef committee.

Dance partners from local studio Adventures in Dance wowed the crowd with their fancy footwork at the Colorado Chapter’s Dancing with Denver event. Held at the historic four-star Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, the event brought in $122,000.

Guests of the Texas Gulf Coast Chapter’s A Royal Soiree enjoyed a regal evening of dinner and dancing at the River Oaks Country Club. Co-chairs Connie Cooke and Virginia Reismen, along with honoree Margaret Alkek- Williams and CF ambassador Haley Snider, helped make the night a success, raising $187,500 for CF research.

Barry Manilow performs a benefit concert at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, entitled, Manilow: An Evening of Music and Passion. Platt Electric’s CEO Harvey Platt gave life to this concert by requesting that Manilow play a benefit concert for the CF Foundation. Solvay Pharmaceuticals found their groove by sponsoring three skyboxes for CF patients, families and caregivers. The event raised more than $400,000.

Proving the power of puppy love, Maggie Seweryniak and Gabby Ives easily convinced guests to bid on the cute golden retriever during the live auction at the Greater Illinois Chapter’s Hollywood Happening. More than 450 guests gathered at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile to help raise $190,000 for CF research.

Exhibiting talent beyond the DJ booth, DJ Big Bob of Kiss-FM shows off his culinary skills at the Western Pennsylvania Chapter’s NAKAMA Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar’s Celebrity Chef Cook-Off. Co-chairs Becky and Bob Gomes provided their longtime support to organize a wonderful event that drew 160 guests, including Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl.

The Georgia Chapter’s Wine and Roses Gala came up “roses” this year, raising $170,000, which is $30,000 more than last year’s event. With the help of Ron and Kaye Carter and Honorary Chair Thomas and Venessa Arvid, the event has now raised $1,000,000 since its inception. The Carter’s have agreed to serve as co-chairs for the 2008 Wine and Roses Gala.
