Surfing greats Laird Hamilton (left) and Dave Kalama (far right) join volunteer Emily Haager, who has CF, for the Southern California-Orange County Chapter’s first-annual PacSun Pipeline To A Cure. After meeting Emily at a surfing camp and learning about the positive effect saltwater has on CF patients, Hamilton and Kalama decided to host the event, which raised $400,000. Auctioneer Shawn Parr joins the trio.

Famed NASCAR racer Denny Hamlin presents a check to Virginia Chapter VLI Chair and Board of Directors Chair Art Washburn at the Denny Hamlin 175 race in May. The race marked the opening event for the Denny Hamlin Foundation, a newly created charity Hamlin formed to aid in raising awareness and funding for cystic fibrosis, and to support chronically ill children with other debilitating illnesses.

Six-year-old Evan Waara, who has CF, befriends the Seattle Mariner’s Moose at the Washington Chapter – Seattle Office’s 22nd annual Mariner’s Care Golf Tournament. The exclusive event attracted 300 of the Puget Sound’s premier business leaders and celebrities and raised $191,000 for the Foundation.
