Utah Begins CF Newborn Screening

Utah has joined 45 other states and the District of Columbia in screening for cystic fibrosis at birth. Starting January 2nd, all newborns in the state are now automatically screened for CF.

Early diagnosis and treatment for babies with CF can lead to longer lives, fewer hospitalizations and better health. 

“The CF Foundation is committed to ensuring that all states screen newborns for CF,” said Robert J. Beall, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. “We congratulate Utah, and look forward to every state in the union joining this important effort.”
