Alabama Begins Screening Newborns for CF
May 13, 2008
Alabama has joined 39 other states and the District of Columbia in screening all newborns for cystic fibrosis at birth. Screening gets underway this month.
Babies that are screened for CF are more likely to be diagnosed earlier and can start treatment sooner. Early treatment for babies with CF can lead to longer lives, better health and fewer hospitalizations. The CF Foundation is committed to ensuring that all states screen for CF.
