Happy Leap Year!
We have been given the gift of an extra day this year. How precious extra time is. Now, you can give extra days and years to the lives of children and young adults with Cystic Fibrosis (CF).
It’s thrilling to have to say “children AND YOUNG ADULTS” with CF because when the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was founded, median age was 5 short years. Today it’s 37 ½ - great improvement, but NOT ENOUGH. My “baby” with CF is almost 20 and 20 just cannot be middle age.
Nick and Joe are in their second semester as freshmen at UNC-Greensboro: Living in a cool apartment, meeting lots of people, and hopefully, learning lots. They seem to be enjoying independence and living on a budget. Ramen noodles are a popular entrée. But back at the old homestead, their unnaturally tidy bedrooms evoke spells of plain loneliness in mom and dad. We are hoping to sell the skatepark (www.zerogravityskatepark.com) to a wonderful, energetic person who will continue with our high standards and provide a fun resource for the community kids. This is sounding like a Christmas letter, right?
If this leap year finds you able to donate – thank you! And the nearly 35,000 people with CF also thank you. If this year your dollars are scarce or you feel drawn to donate elsewhere, please know we understand. As parents, we must ask every year - we hope you understand! Some friends have factored their $100 donation into their annual family budget and another gives $25 for six months; she says she saves the dollars by getting the unadvertised "small" Starbucks. You can donate online at: www.cff.org/great_strides/BarbaraKreager or just scroll to the button at the bottom and click to donate.
We hope you are blessed with good fortune, steadfast friends, and a loving family.
Happy Leap Year,
