Cystic Fibrosis is a fatal genetic disease that affects 30,000 children and young adults in this country. It’s a defective gene that causes the body to produce an abnormal thick mucus. Because of this abnormal amount of mucus growing on Jacqueline’s lungs, we were recently on 3 very strong antibiotics for a month to kill some of the bacteria so that we don’t lose any of her breathing function capacity. She is only 7 years old. Jacqueline is extremely active with dance, soccer and track. In addition she does an hour of Chest Physical Therapy 2 times a day, but yet this mucus still grows. This abnormal mucus leads to chronic and life threatening lung infections as well as impaired digestion. RESEARCH is everything. It’s a matter of life or death and it’s the only means to give Jacqueline the fighting chance she deserves. CURRENTLY, THERE IS NO CURE.
