Dear Friends Swede, Chael, Ramsey and I are participating this year in the Atlanta Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis for Team Ramsey. As many of you know our son Ramsey was diagnosed at 9 months with cystic fibrosis . Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a devastating, genetic, fatal disease that affects tens of thousands of children and young adults in the United States. On average, the lifespan on an individual with CF is 37 years old. Ramsey has had a wonderful year, he seems the picture of health, but unfortunately we are reminded daily that pictures aren’t always as they seem. CF is a disease that we fight everyday. With every meal that Ramsey eats he must take digestive enzymes to prevent painful digestive infections. We do airway clearance twice a day along with inhaled therapies to prevent mucus from building up in his lungs, and while everything on the surface seems fine, we know that this is a progressive and chronic disease that is indeed very serious. Some children with CF spend an average of 70 days a year in the hospital fighting dangerous lung infections. The infections cause scarring which in turn make fighting future infections more difficult. While the average lifespan of someone with CF has increased, the sad fact is that children and young adults are still dying daily from CF and long before their life is taken, they have been through more pain than any child should have to bear. Research and care supported by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is making a huge difference in extending the quality and length of life for those with CF. The CF foundation has estimated that it will spend more than 75 million this year in new research. While the potential for a cure from this research is extremely promising and exciting, the funding is limited. Swede and I will form Team Ramsey this year for the Great Strides walk to fight CF. Our goal is to raise $7500 or more for team Ramsey. We would love any support that you feel led to give. We know that there are so many worthy causes to donate towards and we would feel very honored if you chose to help us in our fight. Please feel free to forward this along to friends and family. We want to say thank you to everyone who will consider donating, and to those of you who have been so encouraging in our efforts. It is our daily prayer that Ramsey’s health will continue to thrive and that many years from now he will be living proof that all of our efforts have been a success. With your help, one day CF will stand for Cure Found. With Love, Swede, Meghan, Chael and Ramsey Sullivan
