Abby is my granddaughter and she was born with cystic fibrosis. She's three now and most of the time her life is like any other child her age. But when it's time to eat, she has to have medicine to digest her food, and for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening she has to breathe with a nebulizer and have percussion treatments to keep her lungs clear. Despite these efforts she still has lung damage.
This is a terrible genetic disease that affects her lungs and digestion, and threatens her life. A fact from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is that many with the disease can expect to live into their 30s. Our greatest hope is a cure.
Cystic fibrosis is an orphan disease, though, not adopted by the pharmaceutical industry. Thanks to the effective strategies of the CF Foundation, though, nearly 90 cents out of every donated dollar goes directly toward supporting research. This has resulted in treatments and specialized care that improve the quality of life for those with CF. The CF Foundation has received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator.
Great Strides is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's major national fund-raising event. This year I'm walking in the Great Strides event in Champaign, Illinois, on April 17 as part of Abby's Army. Our goal this year is to raise $25,000 for the CFF to continue research. Please help us meet our fund-raising goal by sponsoring me.
Making a donation is easy and secure! Just click on the link below to make a donation to my fund-raising page where your donation will be credited to my team. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated!
Abby goes to the CF center at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles regularly and we have great faith that, through the efforts of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation her future will be happy and long.
Once again, thank you for supporting the mission of the CF Foundation!
