Christina Nicole Michels was born on November 3, 1989 to Steve and Ronda. By her 6th birthday she had developed a cough that lasted through the holiday season and "just would not go away." After several rounds of medication with no progress, Christina was taken to a pulmonologist who suggested a sweat test for cystic fibrosis. The test came back positive on February 16, 1995.
Since her diagnosis, the Michels family and Team Christina have developed Schaumburg GREAT STRIDES into the second largest CF walk in the state raising over $1 million to date. Steve and Ronda currently serve as Chairman on the Schaumburg walk and provide invaluable support to the Foundation and its efforts to "assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease.
