WHAT: GREAT STRIDES is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s premier fund-raiser with over 560 walk sites nationwide! For 20 years GREAT STRIDES participants from around the country have joined in our walks, collecting donations in support of the CF Foundation and our vital research care programs.
WHEN: This year the Palo Alto GREAT STRIDES will take place at the beautiful Shoreline Park in Mountain View on Saturday April 25th 2009. The 5k loop will begin at the kite flying area just as you enter the park with the halfway point at the boathouse. There will be plenty of natural habitats to observe and a chance to enjoy the abundant sunshine, bay and fauna of the park. Registration will begin at 9am and the walk will officially begin at 10am.
T-shirts and refreshments will be provided for each walker along with entertainment. This year’s walk will be the best year with a day full of fun activities for the whole family!
WHO: Anyone can join in the fun of GREAT STRIDES 2009, including corporate teams, schools, friends and business associates.
WHY: To ensure people living with cystic fibrosis live longer and more productive lives than ever before! When the CF Foundation was founded in 1955, children with CF were not expected to see their first day of elementary school. Today, more than 40 percent of the patient’s population is age 18 or older! This is amazing progress – but not good enough – as we continue to lose at least on precious life to cystic fibrosis every day.
