Launched in 2010, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Finest Under Forty program has recognized the Lehigh Valley’s most outstanding individuals for business acumen and community involvement. The event is attended by more than 150 of the Valley’s top business leaders and represent the most influential people in business and not-for-profit fields.
Air Products own James Fahr is not only an honoree this year, but serves as a special inspiration to the Class of 2011 since he also battles CF himself. Having been born with the deadly disease he has done his best to keep life as normal as possible while taking medicine, doing six hours of respiratory treatments daily and running intravenous medication as required to maintain his health, even throughout the day at work when necessary.
After nearly forty years of fighting CF his lung capacity went down to 23% and added the requirement of an oxygen tank 24/7. On May 19th, 2010 James received a double lung transplant at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Things are still a daily struggle, but so much better than before the transplant and getting easier every day.
Both the Morning Call and the Express Times have recognized Jim recently in their respective Papers.
