Hi family and friends!
I have a very dear friend from childhood named Jenny. We share many special memories together like birthdays, trick or treating, family trips to the mountains, Vacation Bible School, and going to the Southern Christmas Show with our moms every year when we were younger. We have stayed up late laughing together, talked about life together, and even shed a few tears together. I am thankful for this special friendship and for treasured moments I’ve been able to share, including Jenny getting married and becoming a mother with the birth of her precious daughter, Maddie last summer.
My friend Jenny has a genetic disease called cystic fibrosis. CF is a life-threatening disease that affects approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United Sates. It is the number one genetic disease killer. Currently there is no cure, and the median age of survival for a person with CF is 36.5 years. Specialized care, aggressive drug treatments and therapies are an ongoing part of Jenny’s life. Tremendous strides have been made with CF during the years of our friendship as new drugs have been developed, and today there is more promise than ever toward finding a cure.
My friendship with Jenny has inspired me for more than 18 years as I have watched her live her life with incredible grace and great joy. Jenny has never let CF keep her from enjoying her life to the fullest. For that reason, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is an important organization to me in helping fight for the cure. This year, I am humbled to have the opportunity to participate as a volunteer bachelorette at the 10th annual Guys and Dolls Auction Gala on February 20, 2010 in Charlotte, North Carolina. This event features Charlotte’s most eligible men and women who agree to promote themselves along with an exciting date package for auction to the highest bidder. Along with this, bachelors and bachelorettes commit to raising a minimum of $1000. My goal is to raise more than $5000 for CF through my fundraising. I would like to invite you to help me reach this goal
I ask you to please consider helping me make a difference by donating whatever amount you can afford for the Guys and Dolls Auction Gala. Every penny counts! The CF Foundation has been consistently recognized as one of the most fiscally efficient organizations of its kind. By investing in the CF Foundation, you are helping fund the landmark research that continues to make a tremendous difference in the lives of those with this disease.
Thank you in advance for joining me in this very important cause. My hope and dream is that the special memories and friends that Maddie makes today will be a part of my friend Jenny’s many more years of tomorrows. Together we can help make that a reality!
Only a couple more weeks until the event!! There is still time to purchase tickets- Id love for you to join me in celebrating the success of our fundraising on this evening and to meet Jenny as she is the Guys and Dolls speaker this year! Thank you for all of your continued support and for helping to make a difference in the lives of those living with CF.
