Dear family & friends -
As many of you know my one-year-old Goddaughter, Claire Ann Maguire, daughter of Ryan Maguire (Villanova U. class of 2001) and Shannon Maguire, has Cystic fibrosis.
To help support vital research efforts, I have taken on the challenge of running the Chicago Marathon 2010 to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
What Is Cystic Fibrosis?
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that: - clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and - obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.
In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live well into their 30s.
Please join me and help raise funds for investment in vital CF programs to support research, care and education.
peace, Craig McMahon, osa
ps. the CFF is currently asking its supporters to share "Their Cystic Fibrosis Dream" - My CF dream is to one day be the presiding priest at Claire Ann's wedding. Please help my dream come true.
