Dear Friends, Family, and Colleagues:
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is pleased to present the ninth Annual Jake's Ladder event , celebrating Jacob Dyne, our young son who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis ( CF) at the age of 14 months. The 5K family run/walk will be held at Woodley Park in Van Nuys on Sunday September 9th, 2012. To date, the event has raised over $1,500,000 with all proceeds benefiting the CF foundation.
CF is a LIFE-THREATENING disease that affects the lungs , pancreas, and digestive system of more than 30,000 Americans. The average LIFE EXPECTANCY IS 37.8 years. Thanks to medications and treatments that are funded through the CF foundation Jake and others living with CF have shown improved lung functioning. However, these measures will only extend his life, there is still NO CURE! As Jake nears his tenth birthday , our family and friends are committed to finding a cure as soon as possible so that he can lead a full, healthy life! My personal goal is $5000 and our committee's goal is $100,000. There are many potential drugs in the pipeline to help extend Jake's life but it takes millions of dollars to FDA approve these drugs, and the CFF depends on personal fundraisers such as Jake's Ladder to raise the money to extend his life and ultimately find a cure.
Please support Jake and others living with CF to find a cure for this CHRONIC AND PROGRESSIVE DISEASE by making a donation TODAY, and know you have made a difference in a 9 years old life! We are proud that the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been recognized as a charity that "won't waste your money" by Smart Money, the magazine of the Wall Street Journal.
