This year I will be honored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at the Indiana Guys and Dolls Auction Gala recognizing Indiana’s most outstanding young professionals. In accepting this honor I have dedicated myself to raise money to help the Foundation reach its mission of curing cystic fibrosis. Please help me meet my goal of $2500 by making a donation!
Approximately 70,000 people worldwide (30,000 in America and about 550 right here in Indiana) are living with cystic fibrosis (CF). CF is a genetic disease that involves a gene mutation causing the body to produce very thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs leading to infection, and obstructs the pancreas preventing the natural breakdown and absorption of food.
This disease has not affected me personally, but I realize there is a HUGE NEED to find a cure. In the past few months I had a sibling who was in a coma from an accident. We ended up raising a lot of money for him through crowdfunding. It was AMAZING to see how people can come together for a great cause. Cystic Fibrosis is a disease that requires our attention. It is important that we come together to make a difference. You can make that difference by providing the foundation with funds. Money allows scientists to do research. That research could someday find a cure. In the 1950's the average person with CF didn't make it through elementary school. Through research conducted with funds from the CF Foundation, the average age today is 37. Keep in mind, there is no government funding for CF. It is in our hands to make a difference.
Remarkable progress has been made through research, but it's not good enough. We continue to lose precious lives to CF every day. To learn more about CF and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, visit www.cff.org.
