CF Foundation Hosts Open Houses at 75 Local Chapters
February 19, 2010
On Thursday, January 21, more than 70 Cystic Fibrosis Foundation chapters across the nation opened their doors to recruit new volunteers to help find a cure for CF.
Community members interested in volunteering came to each of the CF Foundation’s 75 chapter offices to meet Foundation staff and learn more about fundraising opportunities, including GREAT STRIDES, golf tournaments and the Breath of Life gala.
Throughout the day, chapter staff also made “thank you” calls to local volunteers, who have supported the Foundation in the fight against CF in the past year.
“It was a unique opportunity for our staff, current volunteers and guests to get to know each other,” said Mary Pat Joseph, executive director of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter, where more than 50 guests attended an informal gathering at the chapter’s downtown Pittsburgh office. “We engaged new volunteers and most important had the chance to thank the people who have made a difference in the lives of those with CF.”
Near Baltimore, Md., care center staff, including center director Dr. Peter Mogayzel and pediatric clinic coordinator Donna Peeler, R.N., from the Johns Hopkins Hospital joined the Maryland Chapter staff, volunteers and board members to make new connections in the CF community.
“We welcomed about 30 new volunteers to the Foundation and discussed our goals for 2010,” said Meghan Smith of the Maryland Chapter. “It was a great chance for all members of Team CF to share their stories and learn more about one another.”
Stay tuned for upcoming chapter open houses in your local community.
