Golf Tournaments on Par for a Cure

August 20, 2009

For a relaxing day filled with friendly competition, golf is the name of the game. On July 20, more than 340 golf enthusiasts teed off on three different greens in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Wisconsin and New York golfers raised a total of nearly $300,000 for the CF Foundation.

At the La Crosse Country Club in Onalaska, Wis., 132 guests participated in the scramble-format Multistack 65 Roses Golf Classic. The golfers enjoyed an early afternoon round of golf followed by a wonderful lunch with great cocktails and both a silent and live auction. Fantastic prizes included digital cameras, a rare wine collection, golf tour tickets and state of the art tools. By the end of the day, the event pulled in more than $48,000.

The Wisconsin Chapter – Madison Branch would like to thank its sponsors: title sponsor Multistack, Fastenal, WXOW, and La Crosse Radio Group. The Multistack 65 Roses Golf Classic could not have happened without event chair and Multistack CEO, Mark Platt, and the event planning committee: Howard Kelly, Kelly McHenry, Steve Michaels, Dallas Platt and Shay Rihn.

Fore the Love of Golf

About 250 miles southeast in Cedarburg, Wis., the Wisconsin Chapter hosted its second annual Four-Ball Golf Challenge. Golfers of all skill levels enjoyed 27 holes on the beautiful Hidden Glen Golf Course to raise close to $55,000 for the CF Foundation. The day was filled with on-course contests, raffles, exciting auctions and delicious food and drink.

The Wisconsin Chapter is grateful for the support of its generous sponsors: PyraMax Bank, Anchor Moving Systems, Champagne/Geiken, Cook & Franke S.C., Design 2 Construct, Johnson Insurance Services, Jonco Industries, Kosler & Company, Palmer’s Steakhouse, Right Choice Janitorial Supply, Robertson Ryan & Associates, Siva Truck Leasing, Stevens Van Lines, Inc., Total Cleaning Systems, Wakeman Equipment Sales Inc., WaterStone Bank and Wells Fargo Advisors. A big thank you as well to event co-chairs Bill Forrester, Jr. and Randy Esenberg for their hard work in planning this event.

Swinging to a Cure

In New York, 132 golfers flocked to Long Island for the North Shore Golf Invitational. In its sixth year, the event was as fun-filled as ever, with rounds of golf at all levels of play and an appealing silent auction. At the evening reception, event chair Tom Lynch’s 10-year-old son Charlie, who has CF, made a touching appearance to thank the CF Foundation supporters. The North Shore Golf Invitational was a great success, raising more than $200,000 for the CF Foundation.

The Greater New York Chapter – Manhattan Office thanks its corporate sponsors: Brigade Capital Management, Goldman Sachs, Invus Financial Advisors LLC, Pinnacle Asset Management L.P., Solus Alternative Asset Management L.P., and Titan Advisors LLC. A thousand thanks also goes to the event planning committee for the hours of time put into this event: Kieran Cavanna, David Hall, Jeanne Kemperle, Greg Klemchek, Scott Kurtz, Leslie Lake, Tracy Lynch, Ken Lysak, John Micek, Thomas Scott and Jim Stephen.
