CF Foundation Meets $6 Million Match Challenge
January 15, 2010
Thanks to the help of volunteers and donors across the nation, the CF Foundation met its $6 million match challenge on Dec. 30, 2009. In July, two CF families announced that they would match up to $6 million of every major gift donation ($10,000 or more) through the end of 2009.
The match announcement generated considerable enthusiasm from the CF community, with match donations totaling $3 million by late November. Donors and volunteers rallied during the final month of 2009, securing major gifts at all levels from families, friends and foundations alike.
The CF Foundation’s major giving campaign, Milestones to a Cure, helps to provide the critical funding needed for aggressive research and drug development to find a cure or control for cystic fibrosis. Thanks to the CF Foundation and its generous donors, there are currently more than 30 drugs in the Foundation's drug development pipeline. And, for the first time, patients are taking drugs in clinical trials that address the basic genetic defect in CF, not just its symptoms.
