CF Foundation Kicks Off the 23rd Annual North American CF Conference

More than 3,500 leading cystic fibrosis scientists, doctors and caregivers are gathering today in Minneapolis, Minn. for the CF Foundation’s 23rd annual North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference (NACFC). From October 15 - October 17, attendees will exchange ideas and discuss the latest developments in CF research and care.
To open the conference, Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D., director of the National Institutes of Health, distinguished geneticist who led the international effort to map the human genome and co-discoverer of the gene responsible for CF, will make the keynote address at the first plenary session.
This year’s NACFC will provide an opportunity for professionals of all disciplines to learn from one another and build important collaborations. Key topics of discussions include:
- Advancements in drug discovery and development
- Improving health outcomes using cutting-edge quality improvement tools
- Care and treatment strategies for adults living with CF
- Coping with barriers to health care coverage for people with CF
- Adherence to CF treatment regimens
- CFTR 2009 – better understanding the faulty CF protein
