Delaware Valley Chapter Wins Uphill Battle to Benefit Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

March 30, 2009

They say it’s lonely at the top—but not at Wawa’s 22nd Annual Stair Climb, where more than 400 friends of the Delaware Valley Chapter scaled the 1,019 steps to the top of the Mellon Bank Center in Center City, Philadelphia and raised $116,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Details That Made a Difference

The Jensen family--Gary and Carol, and sons Ryan, Matthew and Andrew--marshal their energies for the long climb upward at the Delaware Valley Chapter's 22nd Annual Stair Climb, sponsored by Wawa, which raised $116,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Grade-schoolers and teens, young adults and seniors accepted the challenge to “Go Vertical.” After the climb, a “survivor’s party” gave all who were tired the chance to relax, put their feet up, and enjoy music and refreshments provided by title sponsor, Wawa. Onlookers cheered as awards were presented for outstanding males and females in each age group.

Event Co-Chair Carol Jensen, chief marketing officer at Wawa said, “The stair climb celebrates pride, spirit and a willingness to go the distance for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We at Wawa look forward to presenting it each year and are proud to help the Foundation further its quest for a cure.”
