Guests of the Georgia Chapter’s 2009 Wine and Roses Gala dined, danced and shopped the night away at the elegant Atlanta event in April. Celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, the black-tie gala has become a long-standing tradition for Georgia volunteers, and raised an outstanding $240,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

A Spirited Occasion

More than 350 guests filled the beautiful St. Andrews Ballroom of the Atlanta Athletic Club to dine in the company of other CF Foundation supporters and enjoy live music by the Atlantis Band and a special dinner by Chef Eric Karrell. Fine wines to accompany each course were generously provided by Anthony Dixon of Toco Giant Wines.

After dinner, guests took part in silent and live auctions. Popular auction items ranged from beach vacations to specialty wines, hand-sewn quilts and pottery to folk art paintings. 2009 Honorary Chair, Bill Battle, was key to the auction’s success, putting more than $16,000 in items up for bid, including rare and valuable sports memorabilia, and a pair of tickets to the 2010 Rose Bowl.

Celebrating Success

Robin Chanin Stevens, Chair of the first Gala in 2000, returned to the helm for the tenth anniversary. Stevens’ caring touch and the work of her enthusiastic committee made the evening special and memorable from beginning to end.

“We were so fortunate to have an outstanding turnout for the tenth anniversary,” said Stevens. “Once again, I am humbled by the generosity of our community and know that with their continued support, we will find a cure.”

The evening's success was capped with a moving tribute and Bid for a Cure by Sara Sanders that raised nearly $50,000.
