Texans Help Fight CF at 65 Roses Gala

June 10, 2009

Texas 65 Roses
Guests Jonathan Hall, Carol and Ted Conover, and Kenneth Threlkeld (L-R) enjoy a perfect evening surrounded by pink roses and French décor for La Vie en Rose.

Everything was coming up pink roses at the Northeast Texas Tyler Chapter’s 65 Roses Gala, La Vie en Rose. More than 350 guests gathered on May 9 for the fourth annual French-themed, rose-laden dinner. The event raised more than $140,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Setting the Scene

The evening’s festivities were held at the gorgeous home of Celia and Barrie Bates. Generous CF Foundation volunteers transformed the Bates’ residence into a French oasis, complete with French tulips in garden urns and antique silver place settings. Guests dined on exquisite cuisine provided by local restaurant Rick’s on the Square and enjoyed live music by a popular local band of seasoned professionals, The Geezers.

Attendees had the chance to bid on fantastic live and silent auction items, including two exclusive tickets to the 2010 Super Bowl with airfare from American Airlines. The night also featured a Bid for a Cure speech by event co-chair Jennifer Gaston, whose close friend has CF, about vital CF research.

Gaston said, “Thanks to those in attendance and the funds raised at this year’s 65 Roses Gala, we are closer than ever to a cure found for CF.”

Special Recognition

The Northeast Texas Tyler Chapter was proud to honor the Hoeffner Foundation and Rex-Hide Industries with the Breath of Life award for their steadfast support of the CF Foundation throughout the years.
