Quality Improvement Web Cast Breaks New Ground in CF Care

A “virtual” conversation about health care quality improvement (QI) took place on April 5 as part of the CF Foundation’s continuing patient education series via a live Web cast. “One Team’s Story: Raising the Bar for CF Care” was hosted by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and University of Cincinnati Medical Centers and drew more than 870 live viewers from 48 states and 14 different countries.

The broadcast featured an adult with CF, the mother of a child with CF, as well as CF care center teams in Cincinnati who discussed how they have been carrying out QI by medical professionals partnering with patients and families. Working together in an unprecedented spirit of openness, the Cincinnati teams have shown remarkable success in changing the health care system.

The CF Foundation launched the major Quality Improvement program in 2002 and is rolling out the initiative to all care centers by providing the training and tools needed for the QI program.
