Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to beneft from Nashville's GuitarTown

Nashville’s "GuitarTown" is a public-arts project that features 10-foot-tall fiberglass guitar sculptures artistically designed by visual and musical artists and sponsored by local businesses and individuals. In April 2005, the first set of guitar sculptures were created by artists and were placed around the city at various locations. And in July, the second set of guitar sculptures and regular-size guitars--painted by celebrities--were unveiled for visitors and residents to enjoy until the end of the year.

On February 23, 2006 all sculptures and guitars will be auctioned at the GuitarTown Auction Gala event, hosted by BMI in Nashville. Proceeds from the event will benefit the following Nashville charities: The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the United Way, The Downtown District and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

As presenting sponsor of GuitarTown, Gibson Guitar, a Nashville-based corporation, provided $50,000 to help underwrite the initial costs. A limited-edition coffee-table book, showcasing the art of GuitarTown, will be available in this fall. Proceeds from the book also will benefit the charities named.

Musical greats like Charlie Daniels, Sara Evans, LeAnn Rimes, Dolly Parton, George Jones, Wynonna Judd, Martina McBride, Buddy Jewell, Randy Travis, Brooks & Dunn, Brad Paisley, Willie Nelson, Lee Roy Parnell, Steve Cropper, Dierks Bentley, Diamond Rio, and many more have already put their name on the GuitarTown Project.
