Madison, Wis., Gala Goes Vegas for CF Foundation

November 17, 2006

On November 10, guests enjoyed an evening of good luck at the Vegas-style casino during the Wisconsin Chapter - Madison Office's 2nd annual Breath of Life Gala, held at Monona Terrace in Madison, Wis. The evening began with cocktails on the Grand Terrace overlooking Lake Monona and ended with an extraordinary $100,000 raised on behalf on the CF Foundation.

Dr. Philip Farrell, Dean of the Medical College at the University of Wisconsin, began the Bid for a Cure presentation with an update on the latest CF research. Betsey Day, a CF mother, followed with her own inspiring speech, describing her son’s daily routine that includes therapies that would not have been possible without the Foundation’s support. Committed to funding more science, guests generously began bidding at $25,000. During the Bid for a Cure portion alone, donations totaled nearly $72,000.

Special thanks go to event co-chairs Jim Hegenbarth, Betsey Day, Tonia King and Catherine Decker for their leadership and vision. Corporate sponsors included Park Bank, Widen Enterprises, Lee & Associates, University of Wisconsin Hospitals, Hausmann Johnson Insurance, Wegner CPA’s, Novartis TOBI Foundation, GlaxoSmithKline, Eragen Biosciences and Virchow Krause.
