CF Supporters Get a Taste of Salt Lake

November 27, 2006

On November 10, 470 guests arrived at the Sheraton City Centre in Salt Lake City, ready to sample culinary creations from 14 of the best local restaurants. Benefiting the CF Foundation, the Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah’s 8th Annual Taste of Salt Lake also offered exciting auction items including a popular pirate-themed basket for children and a football autographed by Boomer Esiason. Most unforgettable, perhaps, was a handmade 65 Roses® stained glass artwork made in memory of Stefany Orellana, a much beloved 17-year-old from the Salt Lake area who passed away of CF this year.

Remembering those like Stefany in his Bid for a Cure speech, Seth Winegar, a 32-year-old artist with CF, spoke about the many people living with the disease who have inspired him to live his life to the fullest. Winegar, recovering from a liver and double-lung transplant in August 2006, motivated many guests to give. His speech raised $17,000. In addition, Winegar donated one of his own oil paintings, titled “Distant Land,” to the auction. Overall, the Utah Chapter's Taste of Salt Lake raised more than $90,000.
