Indiana Wine Opener Is a Best Cellar
December 6, 2006
Guests of the PHP Wine Opener walked through Tower Bank sampling food from local restaurants and 130 different wines.
On Saturday, November 18, about 500 guests gathered at the Tower Bank in Fort Wayne, Ind., for the 3rd annual PHP Wine Opener.
The Indiana Chapter’s event featured wine, champagne, martini and food stations scattered throughout the three levels of the historic bank building, as well as a tantalizing chocolate fountain. Guests were even served wine through bank teller windows. While many enjoyed the silent auction, the hot ticket item was a jersey autographed by Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback Peyton Manning.
For several guests, the highlight of the night came before the event. Earlier in the evening, those who purchased VIP packages received red carpet treatment at an exclusive pre-event party, featuring the evening’s signature drink, CFtinis, and delectable cuisine from Club Soda, a popular restaurant in Fort Wayne. VIP guests also had early access to the 130 featured wines during the event.
After a fun evening of tasting new wines and meeting new people, guests took a moment to listen as Don and Carolyn Schenkel, event chairs and CF grandparents, offered special greetings. Don Schenkel, CEO of Tower Bank, asked guests to imagine the future—“when CF stands for ‘Cure Found.’” By the end of the night, the sold-out event raised more than $90,000.
For a spectacular evening, special thanks go to PHP, Tower Bank, the John Tippmann Foundation, The Robert Goldstine Foundation, Do It Best Corp. and Cap-N-Cork.
