January 18, 2007

More than seven years ago, Huntington Beach, Calif.-based BJ’s Restaurants created a sweet recipe for success: the “Cookies for Kids” program, which raised a tremendous $250,000 in 2006.

Developed by Paul Motenko and Jerry Hennessey, co-chairs of BJ’s board, “Cookies for Kids” donates a portion of the sale of every signature Pizookie® dessert to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

In addition, BJ's Restaurants’ expansion into Arizona, Colorado and Texas has only further increased their philanthropic commitment to the disease. The company has often made the CF Foundation a beneficiary of their grand openings. Throughout 2006, BJ’s Restaurants donated an additional $150,000 from grand opening events of new restaurants and from other fund-raising campaigns.

“BJ’s Restaurants is proud to continue its long-standing commitment to support charitable and humanistic programs that benefit the communities and constituencies that support our restaurants,” said Jerry Deitchle, president and CEO. “For many years, BJ’s has joined in the struggle to fight and eliminate cystic fibrosis through our ‘Cookies for Kids’ program. On behalf of the 6,500 team members at our company, BJ’s is very proud to present our 2006 ‘Cookies for Kids’ donation.”
