CF Legal Hotline Provides Free Guidance to Patients, Families, Caregivers
March 2, 2007
Have you had difficulties obtaining coverage for CF medications? Has your insurance company rejected your specialized CF care bills? Have you had trouble getting your child’s CF needs met at school? Do you need information about applying for government benefits? Contact the CF Legal Information Hotline for help with your questions.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is proud to sponsor the CF Legal Information Hotline through a grant from Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. The hotline provides free legal information regarding health insurance, government benefits, employment, education and other issues regarding the rights of individuals with CF.
The hotline helps to address ways that CF needs can be met in school, or to enable accommodations in the workplace. It is an excellent resource for information about applying for benefits from the Social Security Administration, or other government assistance programs. It can provide information about the Medicare Prescription Drug Program or private health insurance coverage, including ways to extend coverage through COBRA.
The CF Legal Information Hotline is administered by Beth Sufian, J.D., an attorney and adult with CF in Houston, Texas, and the law firm of Sufian and Passamano. She has been an advocate for individuals with CF for more than 15 years and has assisted thousands of people with CF and their families across the country with various legal matters.
Previously sponsored by the CF Services Pharmacy, the hotline has proven to be an invaluable source of legal information for people with CF, their families and health care providers in the CF community. The hotline continues to work with the CF Foundation and CF Services Pharmacy to tackle issues facing the CF community as a whole, such as changes in drug reimbursement policies by private and public insurers.
This hotline is an information resource only and does not provide legal advice or representation for callers. All calls are confidential.
To contact the hotline, call (800) 622-0385 or send an e-mail to CFLegal@cff.org.
