Solvay Pharmaceuticals Increases Commitment to Great Strides
April 12, 2007
As a long-standing Great Strides National Corporate Partner, Solvay Pharmaceuticals and its employees have walked alongside members of the CF community to help raise money for cystic fibrosis research. Taking its commitment to the cause even further, Solvay recently increased its generous Great Strides sponsorship to $400,000.
In addition to its active role in Great Strides, Solvay Pharmaceuticals has also implemented a program to provide digestive enzyme supplements, as well as vitamins, to individuals with cystic fibrosis during the first two years of life. The company also offers 20 four-year scholarships to college-bound students with CF who have achieved important personal goals despite the challenges posed by CF. Since the program’s inception, the company has awarded more than $1.2 million in scholarship support.
“We’re so proud to be a part of the CF community,” says Laurence Downey, M.D., president and CEO of Solvay Pharmaceuticals. “We hope to inspire even more companies and individuals to support the mission of the Foundation and the CF patients it serves.”
