Lewis Black Shines on CF Foundation Stage

April 17, 2007

Lewis Black
Lewis Black won a Grammy for his Carnegie Hall Performance album in February.
With just one indignant arm waving in the air and a raised eyebrow, comedian Lewis Black can ignite a crowd to laughter. For years, his comedy sketches on “The Daily Show” have been a fan favorite and in February 2007, following the release of his Carnegie Hall Performance album, he added Grammy-award winner to his growing list of achievements. At the CF Foundation, Black is also recognized for his deep commitment to battling cystic fibrosis.

“For more than a decade, Lewis has been a devoted and generous friend of the Foundation,” said C. Richard Mattingly, the Foundation’s COO and executive vice president. “His dedication to raising critical funds for research has been invaluable to our mission.”

Despite having no personal connection to cystic fibrosis when he first began participating in Foundation events, Black has become a significant player in the fight against CF. He has been a mainstay at the Foundation’s annual Ultimate Golf Experience for the past 12 years, performing hilarious stand-up routines, donating private comedy shows to be auctioned off and making his own generous contributions to the cause.

Black continually strives to find new ways to advance the Foundation’s mission, whether it is raising awareness about CF as he makes his way through the comedy circuit or spotlighting the Foundation during important gigs.

Most recently, he named the CF Foundation as one of his charities of choice on Created by actor Kevin Bacon, the Six Degrees site offers people the opportunity to learn about the charities of celebrities and friends, as well as raise money for causes close to their heart.

For Black’s enduring friendship and generosity, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is tremendously grateful.
