Help Make May CF Awareness Month

May 7, 2007

The Congressional Cystic Fibrosis Caucus, co-chaired by Congressmen Edward Markey (D-MA) and Cliff Stearns (R-FL), is sponsoring a Congressional resolution recognizing May 2007 as National Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month.

In order to pass the Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Resolution (H. Con. Res. 85), the CF Foundation needs your help to get enough signatures in the U.S. House of Representatives. You can make a difference. By educating your elected officials and passing this important resolution, we can continue raising awareness about CF throughout the country.

“We do so much to educate our communities about cystic fibrosis, and it is important that we reach out to our elected officials too,” said Margarete Cassalina, who co-chairs the Foundation’s Advocacy Committee with her husband, Marc. “A simple phone call or letter to your member of Congress makes a big difference. It’s up to each of us to ask our representatives in Washington for their help in our fight against CF.”

In just three simple steps, you can make your voice heard and further the CF Foundation’s mission of finding a cure.

  1. Identify Your Representative
  2. Contact Your Representative in DC or at home by e-mail or telephone
  3. Keep Us Posted: Please let the Public Policy Department know what action you have taken.

“Congress is one of the most influential groups of people, and we need them on our team,” Marc said. “We asked them to form a CF caucus for us, and they did. Now it’s our turn to support the Caucus’ efforts.”
