Hollywood’s Glitz and Glamour Comes to Florida

July 2, 2007

Fort Lauderdale Finest Singles
The planning committee of the 17th Annual Fort Lauderdale Finest Singles Gala brought a little bit of Hollywood to Fort Lauderdale.
For the 17th Annual Fort Lauderdale Finest Singles Gala, the Florida Chapter – South Florida Office rolled not one, but two red carpets for this star-studded event. More than 270 guests—including many of Fort Lauderdale’s finest community leaders—gathered at Fort Lauderdale Grande hotel on June 9 and helped raise more than $120,000 for cystic fibrosis research.

Dressed in flawless evening gowns and crisp tuxes, guests received A-list treatment in the Academy Award-themed ballroom. In one corner stood an elaborate ice luge in the shape of the Oscar statue. White table linens draped with red sashes provided a beautiful contrast to the shining stars sprinkled atop each elegant table.

Before the awards segment of the evening began, people browsed the silent auction tables for a chance to win American Airlines® tickets and unique gift baskets from Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

As guests settled back into their seats for dinner, the 28 outstanding singles—honored for their success in business, outstanding leadership in the community and commitment to the Foundation—took center stage. Each had pledged to raise at least $2,000 before the gala, and all were successful. Making the evening picture perfect, Michelle Coulumbe of Three Olives Vodka, Kenny Stiles of Stiles Corporation, Kristen Keagy, Cabot Edewaard, Dev Motwani and Beth Yowell far exceeded their original goals by securing sponsorships and conducting extensive letter-writing campaigns. For their dedication to the CF cause, each honoree received their own 1-foot tall, engraved Oscar statue.

The evening would not have been possible without the leadership of Event Chair Tracy Clark of Premier Estate Properties, as well as Honorary Chairs Susan Rindley of Galleria Collection of Fine Homes, and Richard Paul-Hus of Hypower. Special thanks go to corporate sponsors Kirk A. Capanos Foundation, Three Olives Vodka, Sharon Stiles, Edewaard Development, Inc., Falcone Group, Stiles Corporation, James A. Cummings, Countrywide Home Loans, Heesen Yachts, Merrimac Ventures and Donovan Grant.
