Raising the Roof for CF in Nashville

December 19, 2007

Nashville's Rose Gala
Dr. Bonnie Slovis and Jeanne Marchetti are in good spirits after being serenaded by Amy Grant and Vince Gill.
As home of the Grand Old Opry, Nashville is used to hearing good music. And the music performed at the Nashville Chapter’s Rose Gala on November 8, 2007 was terrific. Set in the hallowed halls of the Country Music Hall of Fame, the night of dining and music raised the roof—not to mention $115,000—in support of the CF Foundation.

Country music stars Amy Grant and Vince Gill told the more than 300 guests how proud they were to be there on behalf of the CF Foundation. “When they asked me to play my music to raise money for cystic fibrosis, I said yes right away,” Amy said. “I can’t think of a better reason why we should all be here tonight.”

And play they did. Time flew by as Amy and Vince captivated the audience with a variety of tunes, from foot-stomping road songs to tender ballads. They ended their performance with a surprise auction of three framed sets of personal handwritten lyrics. Vince acted as impromptu auctioneer and his hearty, “Come on, you can give more than that!” generated an enthusiastic response.

“It makes me feel so good to see all these people gathered together for one reason, to help find a cure for CF,” said event co-chair Pamela Jackson. “A night like this makes me feel more certain than ever that we will achieve our goal.”

Special thanks go to corporate sponsors Pinnacle National Bank; Crichton, Brandon, Jackson and Ward; Highwoods Properties, Inc.; and H.G. Hill Realty Company.

Many thanks also go to Barry McBride, Robin Rains, Mimi DeCamp, Sperry Stadler and Kathy Thomas for their tireless work on the gala.
